Not to be a hater or anything, I get that this show is inspiring for people and everything but still…
I watched the Biggest Loser (or part of it) for the first time today, just to check out what all the hype is about. In the beginning when the contestants were talking it had their total weight loss displayed under their names, and I was blown away. Some dude lost over 100 lbs, Others lost around 80, 60, etc. Those are big numbers! So I was thinking, “Cool this should be really inspiring! Awesome.” Then the host said this:
“Well, you been here 9 weeks…”
9 weeks? 9 WEEKS? I nearly turned it off right there. How on earth is that good for you? Over 10 lbs a week lost? I’m sure they are able to justify it in some way on the show, but wouldn’t that give extremely unrealistic expectations to people watching it who don’t know anything about healthy weight loss?
I’m kinda fuming about this one. Also, WTF is with all the people screaming in the opening sequence? That’s supposed to make me want to watch it?
I’d like to hear from people who’ve been watching the show from the beginning, because this time, I’d be happy if I was wrong.
